I need to get to the grocery store....
OK folks, so I'm knocked up (I mean that lovingly) and the past few days, I've been friggin hungry. I've gained no weight so far, and I don't know what's going on, but now, I sudenly feel famished most of the time. I've eaten us out of house and home just about. So here's how the day is breaking down:
Breakfast: Orange juice. Sesame bagel from dunkin donuts. With egg (or polyester substitute, it didn't taste like egg) and cheese.
Lunch: water. Mall chinese food (fried rice and orange chicken, one egg roll).
Lunch dessert: (here's where I KNOW I'm being really bad....) purchased 4 Mrs. Field's cookies for $5. Intended to share with Kevin and others. Instead, ate 2 and a half.
delicious.

That's really not that much food, I don't think. Maybe you just need to eat more frequently - like have a midmorning snack, and a mid afternoon snack.
Most days, I have been eating more than that. And normally, I do have a midmorning snack--but today, I was in a meeting ALL MORNING (and part of the afternoon, meeting broke for lunch at 1:15).
And look--I did midafternoon snack--I ate three cookies (remember how before it was 2 and a half? yeah.)
I agree, it's not a crazy amount of food. But THREE COOKIES??? That's more than one person is supposed to eat in a day. Cookies are delicious but bad for you.
I think the baby likes them though....probably yes.
And I've given up diet coke for my entire pregnancy, and that's really great. I can affored the caffeine in a couple chocolate chip cookies I think.
Incidentally, giving up my diet coke habit (almost 5 months now!!!) has NOT helped me sleep at night. So those people that say caffeine keeps you awake--I don't believe them. That must be a lie that coffee companies have spread to encourage people to buy and drink coffee in the morning to wake them up.
I don't drink coffee, and never have--but recently heard that drinking coffee can give you the runs. Anyone know if that's really true? And if it is, why would people drink coffee??
oh yeah. coffee can totally give you the runs. and the runs smell like awful runs tainted with coffee beans. it's awful. i had to quit drinking coffee, which i love, when i got ulcers. gross. people drink it because they really believe it helps keep them awake and alert (i believed it, and like you, found it to be false), and because, like that nursery rhyme, when it's good, it's reallyreally good- and yes, like the rhyme, when it's bad it's worse than awful.
as far as food goes, you can afford a day or two in life of mall food and cookies... you just have to try your best on other days, and give in to some things that might not be "healthy," but are definitely "good for you." maybe a good thing would be to get healthy snacks, like veggie booty, little calcium chews (like viactive- i was just reading that moms-to-be need enough calcium so their babies' bones grow well, and that they just recently found out that vitamin d is nearly as important), or veggies like cucumbers, carrots, celery, bell peppers, whatever. it's really granola, but i try chewing on those when i feel like i have to eat, but shouldn't.
it's partially mrs. field's fault- 4 cookies for $5 is a really good deal, and who needs 4 cookies??? (we all do...)
It's not the healthiest option, but eating some "fun food" on occasion is perfectly fine :) (besides, since I have to watch my carbs, you can eat my share ;)).
Make sure you snack. Eat every three hours or so, but don't be too thrown off by the extra hunger. I wasn't too bad first trimester, but the past few weeks, I've been more hungry as well. *psst* I think it's the babies! :)
