Offended? Me?
So my boss is writing up this proposal. He came by and said to me "You are a technologist, right?" and I said "no, I am a Scientist." He stood there for a minute, and said "What level scientist?" and I said "associate" (a couple levels above technologist--maybe 2 or 3?).
He said "Hmm. Well, for this proposal, I have written throughout it that you are a technologist. So, for this project, I guess you will be considered a technologist, because I'm not re-writing it all at this point, ok?"
So I said ok. But, is this really ok? I mean I don't have issues with being mistaken for a tech, I mean, that doesn't mean that much. The issue I have is that MY BOSS DOESN'T KNOW WHAT MY JOB IS. That bothers me. I'm his only employee. He does my reviews. He hired me. He promoted me.
If someone else had made the mistake, no problemo. But I wouldn't expect him to make that mistake. Especially with only ONE employee.

Oh my god. Too funny.
My dad called someone the wrong name once. In front of me. no big deal, right? Except that he called her Michelle- her name was Melissa. I imagine it's a similar sinking feeling... I suppose let him call you what he wants if he pays you scientist style.
Another reason why you should leave and become a nurse. Just kidding... I think nurses are way under-appreciated too.
nurses are the most underappreciated. it depends on what kind of nurse, luckily. it's that tough spot, between doctors who think they know best, and patients, who think they know best... can be rewarding and wonderful if you get in a good spot. And if you don't mind body fluid.
Well, techs get overtime, so I guess while their base salary is lower, they usually end up making more money. Which is why I would seriously not mind being a tech.
Nurses and bodily fluids....yeah, I am nervous about that. I hope that I get over the vomit thing. I figure once I see it a few million times I will be ok....right??
absolutely. you have to be one with the puke and accept it.
